The Tenuta Grillo estate extents on a 32 hectares: 17 of which are planted with vine (11 ha red grapes Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa and Merlot and 6 with white grapes, Cortese, Chardonnay and Sauvignon). The vineyards are in Monferrato, few kilometres from Mombaruzzo. They are situated on a mild upland about 350 meters above sea level. The dry, chalky-sandy soil has the characteristic to drain the water rapidly. Grapes are selected with extreme care and during harvest, grapes are only picked up at the right maturity. The vinification consists of a long maceration (including cortese), limited use of sulphur, exclusion of other additives and ageing prevalently in large wooded barrels with no filtration!
